Help spread the truth about Telangana region of India. Since 1956, when Andhra and Telangana merged, Telangana has gotten the short end of the stick in terms of natural resources, funding and representation in government. Though two major rivers have their sources in Telangana, irrigation projects divert the precious water to other areas. The feelings have often spilled over into violence, and in 1969, 400 people died in Telangana-related violence.

Hyderabad: Telangana political Joint Action Committee (JAC) Convenor M Kodandaram today called upon all Telanganites to observe a mass fast across the region on January 28 to exert pressure on the Centre to come out with a clear-cut announcement on time schedule for completion of the process for the formation of Telangana.

Addressing pro-Telangana activists at the relay fasting camp by Telangana leaders cutting across party lines here, he urged people at large to put pressure on all elected representatives to submit their resignations by January 28 and get ready for acceptance of their resignations if no favourable announcement came from the Centre.

He urged the people to fly the Telangana flag along with the national flag on their roofs of their houses and on private buildings across Telangana region tomorrow coinciding with the Republic Day. A Telangana flag along with the tri-colour would be hoisted at the fasting venues tomorrow, he said.

A day ahead of the January 28 deadline set by the JAC, all Telanganites would organize protest marches across the region to press their demand for early creation of the new state, he said. He appealed to the pro-Telangana activists not to hoist the Telangana flag atop government buildings as it was unlawful.
